Giving Tuesday 2025 gifts funded a three-day Houston trip for children in Sunny Glen's care

SAN BENITO, TX, UNITED STATES, August 17, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Donations made on Giving Tuesday 2025 paid for a three-day summer trip to Houston for children in the care of Sunny Glen Children's Home.

Giving Tuesday is a global day of giving held each year on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, when donors are encouraged to support the causes they care about.

Over three days, the youth visited the Downtown Aquarium and toured the astronaut training facilities at Space Center Houston. They explored the Houston Museum of Natural Science, where a planetarium show and a walk-through butterfly exhibit were among the highlights, then closed the trip with an Astros game. For many of the children, these were firsts, and staff saw how much the days away meant to them.

The trip is one part of Sunny Glen's year-round work, and trips like it are part of the healing, not a break from it. As a Christian organization, it serves vulnerable children in the Valley, with a mission of providing "a place of hope for every child."

Children at Sunny Glen receive housing, counseling, and education, with family reunification as the goal wherever possible.

Their care follows Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), an evidence-based model for children who have lived through abuse, neglect, domestic violence, and human trafficking.

The gated San Benito campus has 24-hour security, individual bedrooms, and learning, counseling, and recreation facilities.

Donations to Sunny Glen fund care, healing, education, and hope for children in the Rio Grande Valley foster system. Every gift continues a legacy of service that began in 1936.

Sunny Glen follows the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Code of Ethical Principles and Donor Bill of Rights, and safeguards donor information under strict confidentiality policies.
